Foliage Report #11

October 8, 2005

What a difference a few days can make! All of a sudden, fall colors have popped in much of northern New England, the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York and an area along the border of New York and Pennsylvania. Peak conditions can now be found in the western crown of Maine, portions of the White Mountains in northern New Hampshire and parts of the Adirondack Mountains in northern New York. High color (61% - 80% change) can be found in northern Maine, northern New Hampshire, central Vermont, northeastern New York, the Southern Tier of New York and northeast Pennsylvania. Elsewhere in the northeast, low (11% - 30% change) to moderate (31% - 60% change) conditions prevail.

Leaf drop is mostly low throughout the region. However, some areas reporting high to peak color are now reporting moderate leaf drop.
