The early color is beginning to spread in northern New England and portions of the Adirondack Mountains in northeast New York, thanks in part to the recent cool temperatures. Low color (11% - 30% change) is now being reported in the higher elevations of northern Maine, the White Mountains in northern New Hampshire, portions of southwest New Hampshire, isolated areas in northern and southern Vermont and some of the higher elevations of New York's Adirondack Mountains. Elsewhere in the region, foliage color is still in the "Little/No Change" category. Leaf drop, as expected on this early date, is very low.
If you are planning a leaf-peeping trip and don't have lodging reservations, don't hesitate any longer! Many Bed & Breakfasts and Inns book solid during the foliage season. Don't miss out! Please visit our Places to Stay and Foliage Spotters sections to find a great place to stay.
